[Sarah Ellerton’s] The Phoenix Requiem is probably one of the most beautiful webcomics I’ve read…Set in a world somewhat similar to Victorian England, this is a fantasy tale and a gripping romance, as magic begins to return to the land after a long absence. Jonas is our main character, injured early on and nursed to health by the ambitious and caring Anya, who is training to be a doctor. A hesitant romance begins to stir, but disaster and plague seem to be following Jonas… http://bit.ly/14Nu7fQ

Australian Lady Creators

About a week ago, I was asked if I could name any Australian lady creators, and I could only come up with three:

So I asked the readers to send me any names they knew of, and we got:

I also learned that the Outback Steakhouse’s women’s bathroom signs are horribly outdated and that only old people say “sheila” anymore.

Th3rd World Studios has teased some early details about a new all ages title called Gossamyr, to be drawn by Phoenix Requiem-webcomic artist Sarah Ellerton, and written by David Rodriguez.  The story is said to be Narnia meets A Beautiful Mind:

“When a brilliant young boy named Denny solves the most perplexing puzzle in the history of mankind, he and his caretaker sister, Jenna, are transported to the fantastic land of Gossamyr, where math is the language of magic and the boy’s unique condition gives him incredible power.”

Their site doesn’t have any more details yet, so keep an eye out!

The Phoenix Requiem by Sarah Ellerton

The Phoenix Requiem is a Victorian-inspired supernatural fantasy story about faith, love, death, and the things we believe in.
On a cold December night, a gentleman stumbles into the town of Esk, gunshot wounds leaving a trail of blood in the snow behind him. Despite making a full recovery at the hands of an inexperienced nurse - and deciding to make a new life for himself in the town - he is unable to escape the supernatural beings, both good and bad, that seem to follow him like shadows.
As they try to discover why, the nurse must question her beliefs and risk her own life in order to protect her family, her friends, and those that she loves.
