Shout! Factory and Hasbro are bringing a DVD release of The Hub network’s 2010 series with February 28th’s My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic - Ponyville Chronicle. This disc contains 5 episodes (110 minutes) of the new show, plus bonus material (details of which are still forthcoming). Cost will be $14.97 SRP, but you can pre-order it from Amazon.com at a discount. Package art isn’t available as of this writing, but stay tuned and we’ll bring that to you just as soon as we can!
Only tangentially related to comics, but I am thrilled that such a strong female-led show (both for characters and behind-the-scenes creative), which has a wildly diverse audience, is finally getting the DVD treatment. For the longest time there were no plans whatsoever to put out a DVD, and I’m very glad they changed their minds. I just hope we get the rest of the episodes someday!
