Boggle Loves You by Aria Heller
Boggle is worried about you! Boggle is also an owl.
Today I am featuring a webcomic you probably have seen reblogged a million times and/or when Laura Hudson interviewed the creator on Comics Alliance. This is because I had a pretty miserable day today— or more accurately, a mediocre day that contained one seemingly innocuous event that had me on the verge of tears for about 20 minutes. The urge to cry subsided when I thought about Boggle what he would say to me.
Heller created Boggle when a few of her friends were all having bad days at once, and she figured a cartoon owl would be the best medium for a positive message for them:
Everybody likes owls. You can’t distrust an owl’s motivations. An owl isn’t going to lie to you. If an owl says you’re a decent person who is allowed to make mistakes, you believe that owl….The fact that Boggle is a comic is what makes it work…comics have the power to provide a layer of removal from complicated or painful subjects, which actually lets us see those subjects more clearly.
If you have a problem that you need a reassuring word for, you can ask Boggle! Or if you just want to know you and your problems are not alone, you can read his advice to other people. You’ll be happy to know such a kind owl.
