Project: DCnU Ladyprojects

DC has promised us more female creators on upcoming projects (minis? ongoings? who knows!), and I gots me some opinions of characters and book concepts I’d like to see and who I’d like to see doing them. And I want to read yours too! You can reblog this post, obviously, but it would probably be equally as useful if everyone would tag their posts “DCnU Ladyprojects”

So, in no particular order, here are some ladies I would like to see on certain projects (not necessarily together, but that would also be awesome):

Power Girl

  • Amanda Conner (a), obviously.
  • Adriana Melo (a)
  • Kathryn Immonen (w) - after Hellcat and Wolverine & Jubilee, I know that she can pull the sense of humor and the really good friendship (yay Atlee!) cards.
  • Kelly Sue DeConnick (w) - She’s got a bit of an acerbic edge that I think would fit Peej so well.

Barda and Her Female Furies/New Gods

  • Jane Goldman (w) - Kick-Ass & X-Men First Class screenwriter, also Jonathan Ross’s wife
  • Jan Duursema (a) - Who the hell else would you get for DC Cosmic?

Big Barda & Mr. Miracle

  • Jen Van Meter (w) - After the Liberty Belle and Hourman backup, you have to ask?

JSA

  • Kathryn Immonen (w) Always wanted to see her on another team after Heralds
  • Jen Van Meter (w) JSA a bit of a family like the Hopeless Savages
  • Rebekah Isaacs (a) loved her DV8 team-work
  • Nicola Scott (a) no explanation necessary, I hope

Cass and/or Steph

  • Faith Erin Hicks (a) - in the vein of her Girl Comics Elsa and Tabby story

Coven of Three - Traci 13, Black Alice, and Zachary Zatara; make a YA fantasy series

  • Ming Doyle (a)
  • Emma Viceli (a)
  • Emma Rios (a)
  • Holly Black (w) YA novelist, did Good Neighbors trilogy with Ted Naifeh

Amethyst - Relaunch as a more magical girl title (I’ve got a niece on the way to be thinking of!)

  • Amy Reeder (w/a)
  • Jill Thompson (w/a)
  • Svetlana Chmokova (w/a)
  • G. Willow Wilson (w)

The Question - all of the below have a great track record with street level aesthetic

  • Denise Mina (w)
  • Ann Nocenti (w)
  • Emma Rios (a)

Lois Lane

Harley & Ivy

  • Melinda Gebbie (a) - I am mainly thinking of the subtle eroticism between Cobweb and her ladyservant :9
  • Adriana Melo (a)

Gen13

  • Weshoyot Alvitre (a) - She never got that big, but she’s good if they’re after a little ’90s revivalism!

Vixen

  • Nnedi Okorafor - Just got her novel Who Fears Death, crazy good stuff that takes place in post-apocalyptic Congo.  Look at her Wikipedia picture— she knows her comics.

Starman (III) - he’s a queer blue Zen alien, and he was my favorite character of ’90s Starman. Plenty to be done with that.

  • Colleen Doran (a)
  • G. Willow Wilson (w)
  • Diane Duane (w) - The outer space parts are always my favorite of Young Wizards

Sensation Comics - An anthology of female superheroes (maybe a split book: one “Wonder Woman Team-Up”, and one solo story about a female character.)  Also, some more unconventional takes

  • Kate Beaton
  • Tamora Pierce - I want to see who she would pick :D
  • Other new-ish creators (webcomics, prose writers trying out comics)
