A Females In Comics Speculative Query…

gailsimone:

It’s true that some more female creators are coming aboard but I would still like to see lots more (along with POC and lgbtq creators).

Just for fun, if you had the power to hire any female comics creators to do any book at DC…who would you bring aboard?

YOU ARE IN COMMAND!

  • Renae De Liz to do an Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld book
  • Kate Beaton to do digital exclusive Lois Lane strips (this, by the way, is what Zuda should have been from the beginning)
  • Bring back Amanda Conner on Power Girl; barring that, Adriana Melo
  • Vixen should be written by (World Fantasy Award winner) Nnedi Okorafor
  • A “Barda and Her Female Furies” book, written by Jane Goldman, art by Jan Duursema
  • Ming Doyle on a Starman (Mikaal Tomas) book.

Ming Doyle for all the Lois Lane things.
  2. sharpestrose reblogged this from georgethecat and added:
Jen Van Meter on a Gotham book, or Teen Titans.
  3. georgethecat reblogged this from gailsimone and added:
    Kathryn Immonen on Catwoman, dammit!!!!
  4. mercurialblonde said: Q Hayashida. She’s insane. Dorohedero is the kind of magic that’s missing in the american superhero comic. Also Marian Churchland who can draw the crap out of anything.
  5. plusonecard reblogged this from gailsimone and added:
Faith Erin Hicks on Supergirl or something Stephanie Brown Carla Speed McNeil on Catman Hiromu Arakawa on a Wally West...
  6. vanessasketch said: I’d jump up and down like crazy for a chance to draw/write comics and I’d go for Catwoman. More importantly, Kate Beaton, K.T. Shy, Johane Matte, and Irma Ahmed, despite how busy they are with all they already do.
  7. captainswank said: Kate Beaton, Ming Doyle, Kelly Turnbull, the chick who does Oglaf.

I’d want both Devin Grayson...Rachel Pollack back at DC and writing
  16. thartist72 said: Devin Grayson on Batwoman, Catwoman, I vampire or Justice League Dark. & Carla Speed McNeil (who’s been publishing & beautifully illustrating her own Indy comic, FINDER since 1996) on Superboy, Omac or Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E.
  17. mondosmusicbox said: bring Kate Leth on to do some artwork. she is amazing. kateordie.tumblr.com
  18. captain-fur said: I’ve been enjoying Liu’s writing at Marvel books for a while now, but a Machine Man (scratch that, I meant Aaron Stack!) book by Kate Beaton would be priceless!
  19. beccatoria said: Rebecca Guay on Captain Marvel - she’d be great at Billy’s life as a lost kid as well as Captain Marvel’s status as a mythic god figure.
  20. ealperin reblogged this from gailsimone and added:
Ummm. If I say YOU, do I get a high five? ^_^
  21. krelllabs said: Will someone PLEASE put Colleen Doran on Madame Xanadu? (also, for some reason a Blackhawks book drawn by the great Marie Severin appeals to me, too).
  22. collababortion said: I love Carrie Strachan’s colors and would like to see her on pretty much any book (but think she’d be a good fit on Aquaman, for some reason).
  23. douglaswolk said: I’d love to see some more stuff drawn by Emma Rios—her “Osborn” miniseries looked fantastic.
  24. ragnell reblogged this from jovenistheworst and added:
Some of her Hellblazer work is collected in Empathy is the Enemy and The Red Right Hand.
  25. wiccabuffy said: DEVIN GRAYSON. End of story.
  26. thecatastrophists said: Becky Cloonan, Kathryn Immonem, Sarah Pichelli, Rebekah Isaacs, Kelly Sue Decconick
  27. shaolinsuckerpunch said: I liked G. Willow Wilson’s Vixen mini series from a few years ago. Sana Takeda on a Cass or Steph book would be neat. Marjorie Liu could potentially write some awesome stories too. Liu writing Batwoman just because it sounds amazingly interesting.
  28. sailorshawty said: Me. :’l There ya have it!~
  29. fanboywatchtower said: Tamora Pierce, I LOVED her White Tiger series… maybe get her to write Catwoman! Colleen Coover, maybe get her to do Teen Titans, fun but exciting and a pinch of drama (but i LOVE Lobdell’s Titans so i hope he doesn’t leave anytime soon)
  30. mitaukano said: K.T. Shy to do either Green Lantern, or a New Booster Gold Blue Beetle comic. Her art would fit perfectly. Other female comic artists I know of don’t seem very interested in doing western comics…
  31. jovenistheworst reblogged this from gailsimone and added:
After reading A Death In the Family, I’d like to see Denise Mina take on some of the “Dark” characters. Deadman,...

am really excited...her on Astonishing X-Men, I’d love to see Marjorie Liu do a Cassandra...
  33. froggyfibers said: Ming Doyle in a series of out of costume back up stories spread out across the line.
  34. srghost said: Colleen Coover on a Teen Titans title would be amazing. Now that DC has JH Williams and owns Wildstorm, I’d love to see Leah Moore revive Wild Girl.
